A homeopath will match the most appropriate medicine to each patient, based on their specific symptoms. It is used across the globe today and recognised as a system that is a safe, effective and natural way to meet the needs of the whole person, mentally, emotionally and physically.

Homeopathic remedies are chosen to fit all the characteristics of the client, so physical disorders are considered along side the individual’s mental and emotional state.

How Homeopathy Works

Homeopathy works on a principle known as ‘the law of similars’ or ‘like cures like’. This law states that a substance that can cause a disease can also relieve it. For example, coffee – or Coffea as it is known in Latin – is a stimulant that can cause temporary insomnia. Coffea may be used in minute potentised (i.e. homeopathic) doses to relieve that insomnia. Another example is that chopped onions can cause your nose and eyes to run with copious amounts of watery mucus. The onion – Allium cepa – can be used homeopathically to treat colds and hay-fever where the main symptoms include runny eyes and nose.

Its origins

The principle of treating “like with like” dates back to Hippocrates (460-377BC) but in its current form, homeopathy has been widely used worldwide for more than 200 years.

It was discovered by a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, who, shocked with the harsh medical practises of the day (which included blood-letting, purging and the prescribing of poisons such as arsenic and mercury), looked for a way to reduce the damaging side-effects associated with medical treatment.

He began experimenting on himself and a group of healthy volunteers, giving smaller and smaller medicinal doses, and found that dilution reduced toxicity and increased the effectiveness of the medicine. Hahnemann went on to document his work, and his texts formed the foundations of homeopathic medicine as it is practised today. Hahnemann  was a medical pioneer who worked tirelessly to improve medical practice, insisting that medicines were tested before use.

The Science

Homeopathic medicines (which homeopaths call remedies) are prepared by specialist pharmacies using a careful process of dilution and succussion (a specific form of vigorous shaking).

Laboratory experiments have demonstrated that homeopathically prepared substances can cause biological effects and are distinct from ‘pure water’ in their action. There is also a growing body of research into homeopathy in practice that demonstrates that homeopathy is effective, cost- effective and safe as a treatment option.

Homeopathic Treatment—My Practice

Homeopathy has always been an integral part of my Health Kinesiology practice and comes up automatically within a Health Kinesiology session if it is the most appropriate energy pattern needed to trigger a healing response in the client. Its absolute forte is its ability to promote re-balancing and healing during and after acute trauma. It nearly always does the whole job here. It is great at waking up the immune system and getting it to restore health.

I prefer to deliver Homeopathy within a Health Kinesiology session, but I can work with the client who is comfortable with Homeopathy on its own. Using muscle testing aids accurate remedy selection immensely and takes all the guesswork out of finding the similimum. It allows the client’s energy system to select exactly the right remedies in the best potency and dilution and at the optimum frequency to provide the client with the smoothest possible healing process.

Homeopathy for All

Homeopathy can be used effectively by everyone, from babies and children to adults, including women during pregnancy. Homeopathic medicines promote the body’s natural ability to heal. When prescribed appropriately, they are safe, non-toxic and non-addictive. They can be taken alongside drugs prescribed by your doctor and will not interfere with their beneficial action.
